While grades are important, universities also offer many scholarships based on financial need, community involvement and school leadership. Make sure you perform several searches to find all of the scholarships available to you.

If you are not enrolled in an Ontario secondary school: Many universities offer scholarships specifically to students applying from outside Ontario and from outside Canada, as well as upper-year and mature students. These scholarships are not listed on eINFO - please contact the universities directly for further information.

This award will be granted to a female undergraduate student in any program, full or part time, at the Laurier Brantford campus who is meeting all program requirements. Candidates must be a minimum of 23 years of age at the time of their original admission to Laurier Brantford, be a long term resident of Ontario and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must have engaged in paid or voluntary work to improve the lives of others or have overcome significant obstacles (personal, financial, health related, etc) to achieve their academic goals.

Full-time undergraduate students entering year one at Laurier Brantford; minimum final average in secondary school of "B+" (77%) or admission to Wilfrid Laurier with mature student status; Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant), or protected person; continuous residence in the Greater Toronto Area (Metropolitan Toronto, Halton, Peel, York or Durham) for 12 consecutive months prior to admission; long-term resident of Ontario; proven financial need.

Megan Keenan-Tyler Schmidt Memorial Award 1

Up to $2,000

Eligible applicants will be graduates of Waterloo Oxford District Secondary School (WODSS) who demonstrate financial need. In the absence of eligible applicants from WODSS, applicants from other secondary schools in the Waterloo Region District School Board will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants who are entering the Kinesiology and Physical Education program (full time, year one) at Wilfrid Laurier University. Applicants must show significant involvement in extracurricular activities (participation in a varsity sport will be given preference) and provide solid leadership experiences. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant), or protected person, and a long-term resident of Ontario; proven financial need.

Onward Willow Award 1

Up to $600

Full-time undergraduate students entering Year 1; resident of the Onward Willow-Better Beginnings, Better Futures (OWBBBF) Neighbourhood in Guelph, Ontario; demonstrated commitment to community volunteerism or active participation in programs offered at the OWBBBF Neighbourhood (as confirmed in writing by the Program Director of OWBBBF); Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant) or protected person; long-term resident of Ontario; proven financial need. In the event there are multiple eligible applicants, preference will be given to those applicants who are participants of the OWBBBF Neighbourhood. In the event there are no eligible applicants who meet the OWBBBF Neighbourhood residency, voluntarism or participation requirement, the award will be granted to a student who meets all other criteria and demonstrates involvement in their community in general.

Sigma Chi Leadership Scholarship 1

$1,000

Full-time undergraduate students entering Year 1 of any program. Eligible applicants must present a minimum final admission average of 80% (A-). The successful recipient will demonstrate outstanding leadership and commitment through involvement in extracurricular activities within their school or local community.

Established by the Sigma Chi Canadian Foundation (SCCF) in order to contribute back to the campus community at WLU, of which they have been a long time member, since 1989.

The Chancellor W. Z. Estey Scholarships 3

Up to $1,550

Full-time undergraduate student entering a Bachelor of Arts program; resident of Ontario; proven financial need; recipient will have the highest overall average in best six 4U/M courses, in combination with financial need.

The Leo Groarke Award 1

Up to $800

This award supports a first-year full-time student entering the Honours Contemporary Studies Program at Laurier Brantford directly from secondary school. The applicant must have been a resident of Brantford for at least 12 consecutive months prior to entering Laurier Brantford, and a graduate from a secondary school with a minimum average of 77%. Preference will be given to a student who has taken a philosophy course in secondary school.

Full time undergraduate students who have been admitted to Year 1 of the English, History, Criminology, or Law and Society programs at Laurier Brantford. The recipient will have demonstrated community-building or leadership in the wider community.

President's Centennial Scholarship Unlimited

$23,000 ($3,000 first year; renewable based on academic performance for up to four* years at $5,000 per year) *Fourth year of renewal eligibility for approved five-year undergraduate programs only.

Full-time undergraduate students entering first year; Canadian citizens, permanent residents or bearers of a valid student visa (visa applicants must have completed their senior year at a Canadian secondary school); successful completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent; minimum overall average of 95% in best six 4U/M courses (or equivalent); the university reserves the right to modify the minimum grade requirement for this scholarship.
