Prerequisites

• Six 4U/M credits, including ENG4U and MHF4U
• Two of MCV4U, SBI4U, SCH4U, or SPH4U
• Combined minimum average of 70% in math and science courses

It is recommended that all four of MCV4U, SBI4U, SCH4U and SPH4U be taken.

Language Requirements

You must provide proof of English-language proficiency.

This requirement can be satisfied with one of the following criteria:

1. English is your first language.
2. You completed at least three years of formal, full-time study (no less than three courses per semester) at a secondary or postsecondary institution where English is the language of instruction and examination.
3. You achieved the required proficiency on one of the English language tests acceptable to UOIT.

Basic Requirements for Admission

You must successfully complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with at least six 4U/M credits, including program prerequisites. Find specific admission requirements and program prerequisites.

If your grades have been affected by exceptional circumstances that can be documented, you are encouraged to contact the Registrar’s office with the appropriate information. Find information on what constitutes an exceptional circumstance. 

The specific average or standing required for admission varies from year to year. UOIT selects students by taking into consideration a wide range of criteria including school grades, distribution of subjects taken, and performance in subjects relevant to the academic program. Possessing the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance and, due to space limitations, preference will be given to applicants with the best qualifications.

UOIT reserves the right to determine acceptable academic credentials, grades and prerequisite courses to be used for admission and/or awards.

Failed and Repeated Courses

UOIT will use the highest grade obtained in a course in the calculation of averages.

If you do not meet the admission requirements or UOIT cannot accomodate your application, you may receive an offer to another closely related program.
