Additional Admission Criteria
In addition to meeting Glendon's general BA admission requirements, you must complete an online French language assessment, submit an online Faculty of Education supplementary information form and pay a $50 processing fee.
Applicants who have submitted all required documents by the specified deadline dates and received an offer of admission to a Glendon BA or iBA program by mid-April will advance to the Education Admissions Committee review.
The admissions selection committee is looking for the following:
- Academic achievement
- Experience working in an educational setting that is relevant to the teaching profession
- Intermediate or advanced level of French language proficiency
- A demonstrated interest in teaching the French language
Language Requirements
Glendon is the bilingual campus of York University, offering courses in English and French. Proficiency in both languages is not required for admission to most programs, but all programs of study include a language requirement as part of the course of study.
York University has general language requirements for all applicants. Glendon applicants can provide proof of language proficiency in English or French. For students who provide language proficiency in English, there is no minimum French requirement.
If you are applying to an undergraduate program, you may meet Glendon's language requirements if you have successfully completed, or are in the process of successfully completing, one of the following:
- 4 full years of study in Canada in English or French at the high-school level
- 4 full years of study at the high-school level in English or French in a country where English or French is a primary language or primary language of instruction
- 1 full year of study in an accredited university degree program in English or French in a country where English or French is a primary language or primary language of instruction
- 2 full years of study in English or French in an accredited college diploma/applied degree program in a country where English or French is a primary language or primary language of instruction
If you completed, or are in the process of completing, the International Baccalaureate diploma, you may meet Glendon's English language requirements. You must show achievement of the IB diploma once it has been granted.
Note: Glendon does not count time spent in ESL, letters written by applicants, or completion of senior-level high school English course(s) as proof of English-language proficiency.
These requirements are general guidelines only. Glendon reserves the right to require a successfully completed language proficiency test. If you are unsure whether you meet the language requirements, you should submit an acceptable English- or French-language test score as soon as possible to avoid potential delays in the processing of your application.
Glendon applicants can provide proof of language proficiency in English or French. You can provide one of the English or French tests listed below or write the French Language Admissions Test administered by Student Recruitment and Applicant Relations.
