Admission
Offers of Admission for Ontario High School Students
Basic Requirements for Admission
Ryerson University offers 2 types of programs:
- Grades-Only programs determine your basis of admission solely on academic performance.
- Grades-Plus programs use a combination of grades, portfolios, interviews and/or auditions to make admission decisions.
Minimum Admissions Requirements (subject to change)
- Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- 6 Grade 12 U/M courses or equivalent, including English/Anglais and program-specific subject prerequisites
A minimum overall average of 70% (or equivalent) in six Grade 12 U/M courses establishes your eligibility to apply for admission. Ryerson receives more applications than spaces available. Possession of the minimum requirements, averages and/or grades does not guarantee admission. The overall average and subject-specific grades required for each program depends on competition each year, and admission is offered to the best qualified candidates.
Find more information about admission to Ryerson.
Admission averages are calculated based on your top 6 Grade 12 U/M courses. Ryerson does not require subject prerequisite marks to be included in your admission average, though you must meet the subject prerequisite grade requirement that is specific to your program.
If you are a high school student, you are encouraged to achieve as much breadth of preparation as possible in the course of your studies leading to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, and meet the stated subject prerequisite requirements for the program you intend to apply to.
Failed and Repeated Courses
We will calculate your overall average using the final marks from your best 6 Grade 12 U/M courses, which may include repeated/upgraded course marks.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
We anticipate that the majority of decisions will be made between February and the end of May 2018 based on application processing timeframes and timelines for evaluating non-academic requirements.
February 1, 2018, is the Guaranteed Consideration Date for all programs.
Subject to space availability in programs, applications, amendments and supporting documents may continue to be reviewed after the Guaranteed Consideration Date for fall admission. Some part-time undergraduate programs also accept applications for the winter and spring terms. More information can be found on our Application Dates page.
The presentation of admission averages on eINFO are estimates only, and are subject to change. Find further information in Ryerson's Official Undergraduate Calendar(s).
