Offers of Admission for Ontario High School Students
Basic Requirements for Admission
The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is required and a minimum of six 4U/M courses or equivalent. This includes program-specific prerequisite courses, with a minimum 70% overall final average (calculated using the best six 4U/M courses).
Failed and Repeated Courses
If you present a repeated 4U/M course, Lakehead University will count your best grade achieved in the course toward your admission average.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
Early conditional offers of admission are made in December 2017 and continue on a rolling basis. To be considered for early admission, you must be registered in at least six 4U/M courses, including the appropriate prerequisites for your chosen program. Early conditional offers of admission are based on final first-semester Grade 12 grades, interim grades and/or final 3U/M grades.
All offers of admission are conditional upon successfully completing the OSSD, with a minimum of six 4U/M courses or equivalent. This includes any outlined conditions and program-specific prerequisite courses, with a minimum overall average, as outlined in the offer (calculated using the best six 4U/M courses).
In most instances, if you are not offered admission to your first choice program, you will be considered automatically for admission to an alternative program, provided you meet the admission requirements of that program.
Alternative Offers
If you do not meet the admission requirements for your program of choice but do meet the General Admission Requirements of Lakehead University, you will automatically be considered for an alternate program.
