Jonah Lowy Memorial Scholarship in Health Sciences

Eligible candidates are full-time undergraduate students entering Year 1 of the Honours BSc Health Sciences program. Candidates must be Canadian citizens, landed immigrants or permanent residents.

The scholarship will be granted to the student who has achieved academic excellence in high school (minimum admission average of 85% or equivalent) who has engaged in significant volunteer work during high school, beyond that required for their academic program. Preference will be given to candidates whose area of volunteer interest is in the health field (e.g., volunteer work in hospitals, nursing homes, lifeguarding, emergency responses, etc.).

Endowed scholarship; established in memory of Jonah Lowy. Jonah was a first-year student in the Health Sciences program at Laurier and was actively involved in the Laurier community, particularly with the Emergency Response Team. Jonah is remembered as caring, protective of friends and family, and always willing to give back. Jonah loved to learn and this scholarship will serve to carry on his legacy and memory.
