Offers of Admission
Basic Requirements for Admission
Ryerson University offers two types of programs:
- Grades selective programs determine your basis of admission solely on academic performance.
- Grades-plus programs use a combination of grades, portfolios, interviews and/or auditions to make admission decisions.
While a minimum high school average of 70% (in six 4U/M courses) establishes your eligibility to apply for admission, individual Ryerson programs may establish higher required admission averages.
Individual Ryerson programs may stipulate specific academic prerequisites for admission, including specific courses and minimum grades. Some programs also stipulate non-academic requirements for admission (e.g., portfolio, admission essay, interview, audition). Minimum grades, typically in the range of 65% to 75% or higher, are required in each of the program-specific subject requirements.
Admission averages are calculated based on your top six 4U/M courses. Ryerson does not require subject prerequisite marks to be included in your admission average, though you must meet the subject prerequisite grade requirement that is specific to your program.
If you are a high school student, you are encouraged to achieve as much breadth of preparation as possible in the course of your studies leading to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, and meet the stated subject prerequisite requirements for the program you intend to apply to.
Failed and Repeated Courses
We will calculate your overall average using the final marks from your best six 4U/M courses, which may include repeated/upgraded course marks.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions
We anticipate that the majority of decisions will be made between February and May 2017 based on application processing timeframes and timelines for evaluating non-academic requirements.
If you submit a complete application (including amendments or additional choices) by the February 1, 2017 application deadline, you will be guaranteed equal consideration for the Ryerson program(s) you apply to. If you wish to be considered for more than one program, you are strongly encouraged to include all program choices on the OUAC application.
The presentation of admission averages on eINFO are estimates only, and are subject to change. Find further information in Ryerson's Official Undergraduate Calendar(s).
