Language Requirements

Students admitted to Brescia University College must be proficient in written and spoken English. If English is not your first language and you have not lived or studied in an English environment, you will be required to write 1 of the tests listed below or complete your ESL studies with 1 of Brescia's ESL pathway partners. Students who can demonstrate English proficiency may have the requirements waived.

The minimum number of years required to waive requirements is 4 years of full-time study in Canada. If you have a total of 4 years of formal education in a country where English is the primary language and language of instruction, you may be considered for an exemption. A 4U English is also required.

Basic Requirements for Admission

• The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
• Six 4U/M level courses, including ENG4U and any other prerequisite courses specified by Brescia
• English-language proficiency
• Required admission average, including all prerequisite courses as specified by Brescia

Failed and Repeated Courses

If a course has been taken more than once, the highest reported successful grade in the course will be used to calculate the admission average.

Timing and Process for Admission Decisions

We will extend offers of admission in March to students who present mid-year and final grades with strong academic results. You must complete or be enrolled in prerequisite courses for the program you apply to. Previous years of academic work may be reviewed to establish a consistent pattern of strong academic achievement. All other offers (conditional or final) are issued later in May and are based only on 4U/M midterms and final grades. Application profiles are considered in May.

We will continue to offer admission on a rolling basis throughout the summer, subject to program availability.

All offers of admission are conditional upon successfully completing the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and maintaining a minimum final average on required courses, as stipulated in the offer of admission. Admission averages will be based on the best six 4U/M grades, including prerequisite courses. If you are not eligible for your specialized program choice, you will be automatically considered for an alternative offer to Arts and Social Science.

Residence

Offers of residence are included with offers of admission.

Scholarship and Awards

Scholarship and bursary offers will be included with conditional offers of admission. If you do not receive an offer in March, you will be eligible for both entrance scholarships and bursaries in May. Entrance scholarships at Brescia are guaranteed and unlimited in number, and are awarded based on final 4U/M grades.

Alternative Offers

You are automatically considered for alternative offers to Arts and/or Social Science.
